Since becoming a mom, it has taken me a whole year to get re-accustomed to a new makeup routine. Pre-pregnancy, I was always up to date on the latest trend, the high end brands, the drugstore brands, and had a very meticulous routine for my everyday makeup.
Now that I’m a mom I’ve realized I have not made makeup a priority (nor do I feel like I have too); however, I have come to the conclusion that getting all dolled up and wearing a little bit of makeup can make my mood and my day feel so put together and positive! These thoughts soar from the fact that I see moms getting ready everyday as well as getting their kids ready and they always seem like their ready to conquer the world. It is very inspiration and at times seems a little unrealistic. All moms have their off days, staying in sweat pants all day and rocking the sky high messy bun, with yogurt and milk all over their shirt. I have those days quite often, but always feel rejuvenated with a burst of energy when I finally take my time to get ready! I don’t stress so much about brands, but do opt for quality and even some budget friendly. I have only recently been dwelling back into the land of beauty so honestly, a lot of this seems foreign. I have been doing my research and have been planning to try out a few different things in the next few weeks but for now I am going to share my current makeup look I wore to pick out pumpkins. This look is very seamless in person (not cakey or powdery) and perfect for taking portraits!
1. Bareminerals Foundation
I find this foundation absolutely seamless. For a “newbie” like me it blends so beautifully and creamy. It is also a huge plus that this foundation is a cleaner alternative to other quality foundations.
2. Tower 28 Blush
I use this blush in the color “beach please”. It is so easy to blend onto you cheek and easy to carry around for touch ups. I highly recommend this blush for a long lasting rosy cheek.
3. NYX Lip Lingerie XXL Matte Liquid Lipstick
I have this product in “Strip & Tease” and is the perfect dark berry tone for the fall time. I absolutely love this product. It is such a good drug store lipstick because of its durability and its smooth and creamy application. It is a matte lipstick and like most matte’s it will get dry but adding on a clear lipgloss over it is the best way to elevate your look and this lipstick. I will say I used to be a lipstick snob. I have tried everything out there from Kat Von Dn to Kylie Jenners lip kits to Buxom to Lime Crime and Tarte. I have tried an endless amount of drugstore liquid lipsticks and so many like Covergirl, Revlon, and Maybelline never applied well. It was very upsetting because their color palettes were phenomenal. I’m excited to try out a lot more drugstore finds in the liquid lipstick section!
4. L’Oreal Mascara
I picked up this mascara on a whim and I honestly don’t love the brand or the product itself. I’m using it because I don’t want to waste it and also currently searching for a better alternative. I have used a Bare Minerals mascara and LOVED it so I am seriously thinking of going back to that one, but also will take recommendations for a reliable drugstore brand!
5. Mercury Retrograde Eyeshadow Palette by Huda Beauty
I splurged this powder when I was more into makeup and living a more colorful lifestyle. This palette is breathtaking and what I’m sure I’ll use it more but I am currently on the search for more fall tones and a smokey eye set.
6. PUR Light Up Vanity Blush Palette
I believe this blush/highlight has been discontinued. I have always loved it and was one of the few things I could salvage from. my previous makeup box. I still love it but have come to terms that it is time to find a new blush and highlight product!
7. Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder
Not my favorite powder but it is was I’m working with at the moment. I will say that it does set my makeup very well and really have no complaints. I think I might eventually get a Fit Me compact powder instead of the loose powder to make it easier for touch ups.
I am not a beauty guru and that’s okay!
As far as makeup goes, I have a lot more to learn. My skin has changed, brands are evolving, and I am so excited to lean more into a more non-toxic and clean beauty brands. I am looking forward to elevating my makeup bag and offering a more fun makeup routine that will translate on the camera! This current routine is not for everyone, but if your new into this world and wanting to start somewhere I suggest you get a simply little layout for an easy everyday makeup routine (like mine) and then with time you can slowly research and shop for quality products or brands that offer what you believe in.
